A Community Still Filling In

Legacy is young. WestCreek Developments started the first phase around 2011, and the first homes were finished in 2013. Phases from 2014 to 2020 added townhomes, duplexes and condo buildings to what began as detached houses. The Calgary Home Builders Association named it Community of the Year twice, in 2015 and 2016.

A growing community changes the moving day. Possession dates on new builds can shift. Show-home streets and active construction can change where a truck can stop. Our advice is plain. Book your Legacy move off a possession date you have in writing, and call us the day it changes.

If the dates don't meet, our storage in transit keeps your things safe between the old keys and the new ones.

In a Legacy Condo, Book the Elevator Before the Truck

Legacy has real apartment buildings, and they run their own move-in rules. Legacy Gate is at 81 Legacy Blvd SE. Legacy Park Encore, Building 1000, is a 63-unit building by Brad Remington Homes at 151 Legacy Main Street SE.

Calgary condo buildings commonly ask for the service elevator to be booked two to four weeks ahead, and closer to a month at the end of the month or in summer. That booking sets your date more than our calendar does. Lock in the elevator first, then call us with the window.

Every Kind of Home in One Community

Legacy runs from one-bedroom apartment condos to five-bedroom detached homes, with townhouses and semi-detached homes in between. About 8,000 people lived there in 2021, on 6.1 square kilometres in Ward 14.

Straight South on Macleod Trail

Legacy sits on Calgary's southern edge, east of Macleod Trail and west of the Bow River, with Walden to the north and Foothills County to the south. From our office, Midlake Boulevard meets Macleod Trail at the Shawnessy Boulevard interchange. We head south through the 162 Avenue diverging diamond, which opened in 2017, past Walden, and on to 210 Avenue SE, where The Township sits on the corner.

All Saints High School, at 729 Legacy Village Road SE, is about 6.7 km from our office as the crow flies. Stoney Trail and Macleod Trail are Legacy's main connections, and downtown is about 35 km north. Macleod Trail and 210 Avenue is still an intersection, with a diverging diamond interchange proposed there.

What's Close to a Legacy Address

The Township, at 210 Avenue SE and Macleod Trail, opened its first phase in April 2021 with Sobeys as the anchor. It has more than 40 retailers in about 300,000 square feet, including Winners, Shoppers Drug Mart, PetSmart, Dollarama and Wine and Beyond. For the first-night grocery run, it's right there.

All Saints High School opened in 2018 with room for up to 1,500 students, and Legacy Montessori School teaches kindergarten to grade 4. To the south, the Pine Creek environmental reserve protects about 300 acres of pine forest, escarpment and wildlife corridors. The community has around 15 km of pathways, five playgrounds and 30 acres of green space, plus Jane Seymour's Open Hearts sculpture.

Bigger errands are a short drive. Shawnessy Village Shopping Centre, with Canadian Tire, Walmart, Home Depot and Landmark Cinemas, is about 10 minutes away, and the South Health Campus is nearby in Seton.
