1. Use real dish pack boxes for the kitchen. China and glassware belong in double-wall dish pack cartons, not the single-wall boxes from the grocery store. The extra wall is what stands up to a stack and a mountain pass.
2. Pack plates on their edge, not flat. Stand plates vertical like records in the box. A plate on its edge spreads the pressure instead of taking a stack straight down on its face.
3. Use clean paper, never newspaper. Newsprint ink transfers onto dishes and glass and you spend the first night at the new place washing it off. Plain packing paper first, then bubble wrap.
